Urbanization and the Rise of Megacities
With the rise in the rate of urbanization and the number of megacities there is an urgent need for urban designers with a development focus to provide leadership in shaping Asian cities. The need is urgent with more than half of the world’s population now living in cities and by 2050, an incredible 70% of the global population will be urban.  This growth together with a number of other global forces including climate change, growing inequality, technological innovation, the need for a global perspective stressing innovative and strategic thinking all point to the need for professionals with strong urban design and development skills to provide leadership to creative problem solving approach.
The UDDI Degree
The Urban Design and Development International Program (UDDI) at Thammasat University’s Faculty of Architecture and Planning has been established to provide students with the opportunity of gaining the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the urbanization and megacity challenge. Using a multidisciplinary approach, the UDDI program provides students with the flexibility to guide their studies as their interests develop. Just as importantly, it gives students the necessary breadth to master the complexity of cities as diverse as New York, Mumbai and Hong Kong. In a world of cities the UDDI program will help graduates achieve their objectives.

The UDDI Program is divided into five distinct sets of learning experiences. In each year students will develop a new set of skills and knowledge in order to provide them with the necessary tools and perspectives to be creative and innovative leaders in the development and design of cities. A particular element of the UDDI experience is to specialize in tourism, partnerships or real estate development.

Faculty of Architecture and Planning (APTU)
The Faculty of Architecture and Planning is a leading education and research center of excellence in architecture, planning and urban design. The faculty has excellent facilities and faculties with international education and perspectives. The Faculty is proud of its record in creating knowledge and wisdom, and producing graduates well-equipped to participate in the global arena.
Thammasat University
Thammasat University (TU) is one of the most respected institutions of higher education in Thailand. Officially inaugurated on 27 June 1934 and originally named Thammasat the “University of Ethics and Politics”, reflecting its primary mission to offer higher education in the disciplines of law and politics to the new citizenry and prepare Thai people for their new democratic system. Prominent national figures and political leaders are graduates of Thammasat University. They include several former Prime Ministers of Thailand.  With a progressive vision, TU, is a growing hub for international education, and participates in the development of communities in Thailand, ASEAN and beyond as part of its social responsibility. TU as a comprehensive university with 36,000 students on three campuses, nearly 2,000 members of faculty, 26 colleges and schools together with research institutes and centers. It now has 43 international programs recognizing the University’s international perspective and role.
